Founded in 1979 by a group of Unitarian Universalists, The Mountain is an ecologically-conscious retreat and learning center serving congregations, businesses, and schools, as well as Unitarian Universalist groups. Located on 4,200 foot high granite cliffs on the Eastern Continental Divide in the Blue Ridge Mountains, they offer a unique opportunity to appreciate the unique ecology and history of the oldest mountains in the world. Their site include a farm with poultry, greenhouse, food forest, garden, shiitake site, apiary and mountain meadow. The farm offers a variety of programs, including apprenticeships, as well as contributing fresh produce for the dining hall.
